Launch and Learn Program From Modern Yachts

Our customers tell us one of the most important services we offer is our “Launch and Learn” program, which enables a new boater to learn the ropes from an experienced, licensed captain.

Modern Yachts helps new boaters learn to navigate Long Island waterways
through the "Launch And Learn" program.
Exclusive to Modern Yachts, Launch and Learn is complimentary on-water training provided to customers who purchase a new or used boat from Modern Yachts.

The program focuses on:
  • basic boat operation, controls at the helm, and rules of the “road”.
  • destination training to all east end and offshore ports. These may include Block island, Montauk, Sag Harbor, Newport, Shelter Island, Greenport, or Nantucket - to name a few.
  • Shinnecock locks safety training, which provides an overview of lock operation and suggests best practices for navigation through the locks.
  • safe boating courses. Modern Yachts conducts NYS safe boating courses at our Westhampton location and encourages new boater participation.
  • mooring/anchoring/tie up training and service. This invaluable component prepares new captains for the basics of maneuvering a boat during mooring and anchoring.
The Launch and Learn program is a great opportunity for new captains to navigate local waters in the recently-purchased boat. The session will will be conducted with a single participant for individualized attention.

At the conclusion of Launch and Learn, new captains will be more educated on the operation of the individual vessel, will develop skill in boat-specific maneuvers, and will have a fuller understanding of local waterways.

Boaters seeking more in-depth training may contact Modern Yachts for information on advanced training sessions.

Modern Yachts is pleased to offer the Launch and Learn program so that boaters can operate their boats safely, comfortably, and with confidence, in waters surrounding Long Island.

New York’s Most Popular Boat Is….

Quick – venture a guess on New York State’s most popular brand of boat.

That’s a tough question: New Yorkers love so many boat brands and styles, and our state is fortunate to boast access to an ocean, inlets, sounds, bays, lakes, rivers, ponds and creeks.

Still uncertain?

Here are a few hints…

1)   The manufacturer has been building boats for 55 years.

2)   It is the largest manufacturer of pleasure boats.

3)   The brand includes more than 40 models in four classes of boats.

Give up?

If so, you just might want to stop by any of the three Modern Yachts locations and check out New York’s most popular brand – Sea Ray.  Come discover why nearly 25,000 boaters in New York have selected Sea Ray as their craft of choice.

Sea Ray is popular for many reasons: the brand includes enough styles and sizes of boats to appeal to families, daytrippers, wake boarders, socialites, and nearly everyone else who enjoys being on the water; the company has a long history of incorporating innovation, technology, and craftsmanship into every boat they build; and Sea Ray’s long history speaks to the durability of its boats.

One panel of Sea Ray boaters pointed out that in their experience, the boats are a good value, and that each boat has a favorable resale value.

Sea Ray boats are New York State's most popular brand,
as evidenced by boat registrations.
Another reason indicated is that Sea Ray dealers are factory authorized and trained to service the very boats they sell. That means that the service teams at Sea Ray dealerships are experts in diagnosing and servicing all Sea Ray models. Many other brands are sold through independent dealers who may or may not have service training for that brand.

Almost 25,000 New Yorkers can’t be wrong! To check out some of Sea Ray’s most popular models, schedule a visit with us or just stop by our Westhampton Beach, Hampton Bays or Mattituck locations.
